Portrayal of Mental Illness and Mental Illness Stigma in Media

Project Details

Description

Research shows that young adults frequently encounter depictions of mental health through entertainment media, particularly TV series and video games. Since mainstream media significantly shapes public understanding and attitudes toward mental disorders, including potential stigma, our research team conducted a comprehensive analysis of how mental illness is portrayed across these platforms. Our methodology combines previously published findings with new research, incorporating both quantitative data from online surveys and qualitative insights from qualitative online surveys and focus group discussions.
