Curriculum Vitae
Wanda Spahl is a social scientist, with expertise in qualitative methods, ethics, and artistic research. Her research interests include social studies of health, biopolitics, critical migration studies, and digitalisation. At the Division Biomedical and Public Health Ethics, Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences, she creates an ethical framework for developing and implementing gamified digital mental health interventions for young people (EU HORIZON funded project “ASP-belong: Augmented Social Play”). From 2020 to 2022, she was a researcher in and co-leader of the international and longitudinal qualitative interview study “Solidarity in Times of a Pandemic“. From 2018 to 2022, Wanda Spahl was a university assistant at the Department of Political Science, University of Vienna. In December 2023, she submitted her doctoral thesis “From Medical Care to Citizenship: Mapping the Healthcare System’s Function of Inclusion for Refugees in Vienna, Austria” (Department of Political Science, University of Vienna; supervisor Prof. Barbara Prainsack). She has published in international scientific journals, including Bioethics, Critical Public Health, Comparative Migration Studies, Global Public Health und Frontiers in Public Health.
