Abstract
Background: Members of emergency teams are exposed to increased burdens during their operations. The difference between the role of officers in charge and members of emergency teams has not yet been considered. If there are differences in emotion regulation processes in those two groups, it should be concluded that different methods in aftercare are also necessary. Materials and methods: By means of questionnaires (Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Meta-Emotion Scale, Acceptance and Action Questionnaire, Experiences Questionnaire) 122 members of emergency teams and 127 staff in charge were surveyed about their emotion regulation processes during training courses. Results: All results showed significant differences between the two groups. On the one hand, officers in charge suppress emotions significantly stronger and, on the other hand, they have a higher ability to reflect on emotions. In addition, officers in charge experience more negative affects. Conclusion: Emotion regulation processes differ significantly between the two groups. These differences show that there should also be differences in a requirement-oriented support.
